 The tools slip in and out of the solid brass lock-jaw handle by simple twist of the brass cylinder. Hand-tightening holds the tools firmly ito the handle. the wooden part is solid buginga. The six tools chosen for this set are the most widely used in relief as well as "in the round" carving projects. they are (1) 3/8" straight chisel (2) 3/8" skew chisel (3) 60 degree Vee tool 1/4" (4) #9 straight gouge 1/4" (5) #9 bent gouge 1/4" (6) #5 long bent gouge #5/16". The tools are made of high-carbon tool steel and are hand-honed to a sharp edge. They are sold in a well-finished hinged wooden box with foam lining. A great beginners set.
